Today, Thursday, 2/17, at 3:30pm, take action at the City Council meeting by demanding support for a more transparent and accountable process for the proposed Howard Terminal Ballpark development. The final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for Howard Terminal will be heard by City Council and the resolution brought forth by Council Members Bas/Kaplan/Kalb would require City Council to act on community benefits and protections before the final approval.
Our demands and priorities are clear:
– affordable housing,
– living wage jobs,
– local hiring practices, and
– environmental protections for the neighborhoods surrounding the Port.
Community organizations and coalitions, such as Chinatown Coalition and Oakland United, have fought long and hard for years to make sure our communities benefit from this large-scale development, and we need your help to ensure City Council and the Oakland A’s are on board with us.
Please join the virtual meeting promptly at 3:30PM to sign up to share a public comment or make sure to leave an e-comment before 3:00PM. You can use these talking points to help shape your public comment.
Our communities deserve the right to shape the negotiations of any development in which our City partners. We hope you join us during today’s very important meeting to show City Council and the Oakland A’s that our town is built on our own terms.
