From September 30th – October 2nd a big group of Oakland Rising’s staff, core partners, volunteers, daily team members, and grassroots activitsts will join forces with our statewide partners from California Calls in a 3 day conference about our statewide strategy to reform Prop 13.  Since 1978 California’s education spending has gone from #2 in the country to #48, and that is only the beginning of the list of extreme cuts to basic public resources and services.  We deserve great public schools, safe streets, job training and support, low-cost childcare, healthy environments, and affordable housing…and we have to address issues on the statewide level to get them back.

We have two Community Scholarships available to interested participants.  We encourage you to apply for a Camp Calls scholarship if you are committed to making the work happen with us over the next year or two…doing precinct walks, recruiting friends and neighbors…that kind of thing.  If you’re interested in applying for a Community Scholarship, please write an email to [email protected] telling us about yourself, what Oakland Rising means to you, and why you’re committed to reforming Prop 13.

3) Deepen skills needed to be the best electoral organizers and community outreach people in the state.
