The REAL People’s Fund invites you to join us for a 3-Part Build Better Series focused on building political power with our small business community in Oakland to learn how to participate in city decision-making that impacts all of our lives!
I’ll be speaking on the wealth inequality our small businesses face and the impact it has on our local economy with the help of Network of Bay Area Worker Cooperatives, a grassroots org comprised of primarily worker cooperatives dedicated to building workplace democracy in the Bay Area.
By addressing the deepest needs of our small business community, we can strengthen the voices of BIPOC and Flatland entrepreneurs while leveling the playing field for those who have been mostly impacted by unjust economic systems and the economic crisis caused by the pandemic. This is our opportunity to show up and out for the small businesses that shape Oakland’s culture and make our town what it is today!
The Build Better Series is a free in-person and virtual 3-part series, we highly recommend attending all three sessions to gain the most out of this knowledge-share:1. Mon. 2/27 5:30-7:30pm | The Power of Organizing (in-person)
2. Mon. 3/6 5:30-7:30pm | Oakland City Politics (virtual)
3. Mon. 3/13 5:30-7:30pm | Understanding the city’s budget (virtual)
The registration deadline for this Monday’s session is THIS Thursday, February 23rd!
We hope you will join us in creating an Oakland that prioritizes and serves our local economy and communities. When local businesses thrive, we all thrive.
